Hi. Thank you for signing me on.
I'm an artist working in the Toronto artist-run center YYZ where I manage production of books for our small press called YYZBOOKS.
We have recently initiated a project to create a book about artist-initiated activities. I'll post more information about it as soon as I figure out where/how best to do that here.
In the meantime, I hope I'll have something to contribute to your discussions.

Hi all,
Below is a condensed, forward-friendly version of the call for ideas about artworlds - which we'll present in poster format and refer to during the ICA events Jan-Mar07. Please forawrd to anyone you think may have ideas about this! Oh yeah, you can send your ideas too...
:)
Scott
Please forward widely >>
Subject: "Send your thoughts by Jan 12 & we'll show them at the ICA in Philly"
Open call to Send us your ideas about artworlds, how they could differ from the dominant ones today...
When we say "artworlds", we mean any network of people involved in art, and the systems they use to support their practice.
But people keep talking about "THE Artworld" as if there were only one. We need examples of other artworlds to help people understand. We will be making 11x17" posters based on your examples and show them at the ICA the end of this January!
Send us a word, a sentence, a sketch -- anything that helps give an example of existing or possible artworlds (you get points for being funny or imaginative or uncovering some bit of history). Could be manifesto, half-cocked proposal, reporting on things others may not know about, anecdotes, fantasies -- 1 poster per idea -- no limit on number of ideas - send as many as you can think of...
MUST EMAIL TO US BY JAN 12!! projects [at] basekamp [dot] com
Happy 2007!

Hope the holidays are giving you each a chance to rest (at least slightly!), reflect and regroup...
Two big things:
A. ICA Events (opening Jan 19 - through Mar 25, 2007)
B. PAW Grant Application (our final deadline: Jan 31, 2007)
*The first thing (ICA events) are important, as they're the next step in developing the project, getting the local public involved, etc. Details below...
hi everyone,
Please send us your ideas & Please forward to your contacts!
I N V I T A T I O N
We are asking people to send ideas about future artworld scenarios, to be presented as tabloid posters alongside our collaborative series events at the ICA in Philadelphia this Jan-March. Please pitch-in! (see example below)

A local artist in Philadelphia suggested that artists could have two choices for making a living from their work: They could get paid a fair hourly wage by the state, but in doing so they forfeit the ability to make more money by selling their work for high prices (any money generated through sales would go directly to the state). Or they could forgo the hourly wage option, and take their chances with the possibility of someday selling their work for more money.
hi guys (planning group) we need your help right away:
I N V I T A T I O N
by this coming Friday (Dec 8) we need to design (& agree on) 9 engaging games that will help the public understand the Plausible Artworlds objective, and get involved at the ICA this Jan-March.
E X A M P L E
here's an example for one of them: ACW has suggested a version of "Artfan live", wherein several people (an art critic, an artist, someone from another profession, and someone who claims to know nothing about contemporary art) give a tour of the artwork in the museum.
To the PAW planning group,
Hi Everyone!
A couple of things:
First want to let you all know that, after a month of testing by many of you, the Plausible Artworlds website is up and running. For those of you who haven't logged on yet, I think you'll find it much easier to navigate. Any other style or site-organization issues I'm sure we can iron out as we go.

Last night, I decided to try the various category modules that I downloaded following the taxonomy talk. Somehow, between the cat, the kids and their homework - attempting to relate Henry the freeking 8th with Homer Simpson - I thought it was the right time to install one of the more promising modules. It hoped it will give people the opportunity to write their own taxonomies in relation to posts, and it had a little bar "thing" that seemed to show related terms.. That was a "DUH!!" idea. One of these things one prepares, then hit the "OK" button, and as soon as the finger is off - you know this isn't going to make you very happy... After all the promise, the module ensured the forum could not exist with it on the same site..
Hi Everyone -
I have been MIA for a few weeks - though have been in touch with some of you - have not communicated much with the entire group for a little while. Hello!
There are many things in the works, which you should receive info on shortly - for instance, I am giving a talk at the University of Pennsylvania tonight to briefly present all of your work and where the PAW project is at so far.
What interests me in this project? Probably its not exactly what interest you, maybe even hopefuly so, because then we can develop critical dialogues.
I have a good few ideas, maybe bad ones, about the ways art worlds could operate. The common theme for even considering art worlds, is that I think the ways in which they operate affects the works which they, in a sense, produce.
For example, in a system where objects are valued, we'll get art works that produce stuff in forms that can be traded, seen, and pointed at. This, I think, affects the way one expects him/her self to work. Just imagine that you don't know, in the process of conceiving a project, whether or not it will strive to produce something...
Hi,
I am still a bit over worked, but hope to have time to contribute more on Thursday. However, as I was going through some things a very general question came to mind. Isn't it the case that all works of art, whichever field and level, can be said to deal with plausible art worlds?
Works can question, offer an idea of a "new" art world plausibility and affirm an existing one.. I wonder how the explicitness of this project's name can play..
Plausible Planning Group
hey everybody,
I hope by now you're all rested and caught up at least from the time spent in Philly, and have time now to carry on with the discussion and planning for next year. A few things for now - - >
[1] CONTRIBUTE
Your participation on the website (http://plausibleartworlds.org) is requested! We are now in the beta stage -- that means we can adjust the site to fit your needs. To discover what your needs are, we need you to test the website, register, make posts, and tell us what you think?
Hi,
I do not inted to write much at the moment - but should really get a smoke before I start.
Is it childish?
Is it wet?
Is it like a clipper?
is it ok with a black marker?
Indellability.. An ephermal indellability.
Is it the correct spelling?
I need a roleup...
Though I shouldn't - which means I need it more!
Is it thirst?
I don't give a moo!
OK.. I think this section is for who we kind of are.. And I also think that I've probably said more than I intended - and less than I know.
Hey Guys,
Quick follow-up to last weekend below - - >
THANKS :)
First of all want to thank you all for an incredible weekend of discussion, debate, disagreement, and a lot of collective energy.
QUICK IMAGE HUNT
In the next few days, we want to find a good image to help promote the exhibition. Do one of you have a photo from the weekend that you think could work for now?
Then, in the next few weeks, we would like to share all the material that each of us gathered at this event. Photographs, drawings, diagrams, notes (scanned or transcribed into text), or anything else you have. This will be something we can do through the web forums, and through a flikr account that Salem offered to set up for the project.
